The plan was to write and publish this after the workshop but it was a very long day, so from memory it’s going to be short and sharp post. Yesterday saw me travel through to David Lloyds in Glasgow for my quarterly workshop for BodyCombat 61 and CXWorx 16. We’ve had the tracklisting a while and the sizzlers were late hitting the net which didn’t matter as they didn’t give much away.

The masterclass was taken by Justin followed by 30 minutes of “education”.  What can I say about this release?  The tracks that have stuck in my head are track 2, track 7, track 8 and track 9.  The release just doesn’t stop and by no means easy.

The lunge switch is back again thrown in with an Esquiva. Track 2 is a cracker on the legs, track 7 to put it bluntly isn’t that great.   The superman in different levels just kills the track, jump knees thrown in for fun?  Track 8, seems to go on and on, can see instructors having alot of fun with this while pushing participants through different levels absolute, shoulder blaster.  Not really a fan of this conditioning track. When Justin was setting up, the dreaded thought of the Komodo dragon and walking alligator push-up from BodyCombat 44 came into my head (lead balloon from memory).  Fortunately it wasn’t, we work the shoulders and core and we’re done.

If you’ve still to do your workshops take alot of water as you’re going to need it, prepare mentally for a full body workout that will make you feel like you’ve been hit by a bus.

I look forward to teaching the release and having a chat with Roger over coffee.  Music and dvds should arrive tomorrow so the learning begins.  If you’re like me and fancy some new clothing for this release check out -> BodyCombat Clothing Alternatives.

Have you done the release yet? What are your initial thoughts on BodyCombat 61?

I normally prefer BodyAttack classes, but I’ve done BodyCombat 61 a couple of times this week and really enjoyed it. Maybe it’s just me getting used to Combat, but I feel that this release is more accessible.

Hey Andy, thanks for commenting :). First it’s good to see you’re trying new classes, have you done/tried CXWorx? With the workshops happening now “doing” the release in respect to teaching it won’t happen till next month as most gyms/centres are launching around the same time. Did you try 60?

I’ve not tried CXWorx. Would it be a good class to alternate with the cardio-intensive Attack and Combat? It was definitely Combat 61 we’ve been doing; there’s no mistaking the high-energy Every Breath You Take! Also been doing Attack 86 for a while.

Yeah 30 min class. Should check it out. You must have a trainer as an instructor as they would of had the music etc for the last 4 – 5 weeks. So far everyone is saying that t7 is a disappointment. Time will tell I suppose 🙂
