There are several Les Mills programs that have been around for many many years, for example BodyAttack and BodyStep started in the ’80’s, followed by BodyPump in the ’90’s, now think about the first time you did a Les Mills group exercise class. How long ago was it, compare that to how the class is now.
Over time programs have evolved, this could be to trends, successful experiments from ideas that directors have had. I posted back in June 2017 11 things you may not know about BodyCombat (If you check the post please read the comments from you guys, was blown away) and at the time discussed somethings that were gone and forgotten at that time.
These are the questions, from the time you started participating or even instructing in a class, what has evolved out, what do you miss? On the flip what has evolved into the program that you wouldn’t change?
What I miss from BodyCombat
- Running in a circle at end high fiving (even though it sometimes happens in my class :P)
- The quirky track 5s (Surely could be a bonus track if anything right?)
- Banger t7 tracks like Braveheart
- Speedball
- Shoots
Wouldn’t change
- More tracks like 94 track 2,3,8 please, music, chore = what a combo.

I had totally forgotten about track 5’s in combat. Looking over my old releases gonna put “Good Charlotte – the anthem” in a mix soon. Thank you for sparking these memories.

I took my first BodyCombat class roughly 10 years ago, spring 2013, release 55. And oh boy was it sweet pain and sweat the first few times.
Since then, the program has noticably changed, most notably track 5, but also the music style of most track 3, 5 and 8’s.
What do I miss?
– The occasional sing-along tracks – cheesy or not, they make for a fun time.
– Happy hardcore track 3, 5 and 8’s. I don’t necessarily dislike the drum and bass style, but I do miss the old style.
– Track 8 music that’s an ultimate turbo blastoff! It’s the last real track, so it deserves to be a high-energy finishing track! Maybe a song akin to “Worth The Lie” from release 78.
– Pushups in track 9. I know they are also often in track 5, but some more won’t hurt (that much), right? 😉
What wouldn’t I change?
– The hard aggressive songs in tracks 2, 4 and 6.

I completely agree with Peter.Thankfully our instructor mixes in some great sing-along to tracks, happy trance? Always packs out each class.

I miss seeing different instructors around the world on the master classes.Same faces and unfortunately same chat might look the part but begs to differ fed up of seeing blond haired woman in so many videos.Fresh faces would be good.Combat track 7 music needs to evolve as it’s just drivel now. Attack where do I start, sometimes it’s good to go back to your roots.
