Probably two of the most common actions performed in Windows Explorer are copying and moving files.  This can be simplified with a couple of registry additions.  If you’re not familiar with using the registry please take care when editing/deleting/adding as consequences wont be good.

First thing we need to do is run the registry editor – regedit (Windows Key + R)

run-regedit

This will then open

regedit-default

In the left pane we’re looking for

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

CopyTo

  • Right click above directory – New key
  • Name the key “CopyTo”
  • Select it
  • Double-click (default)
  • Enter the following : {C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}

MoveTo

  • Right click above directory – New key
  • Name the key “MoveTo”
  • Select it
  • Double-click (default)
  • Enter the following : {C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}

Go to your desktop and select an item and right click.

copy-to-move-to

A little time saver.
