Road trip

Last weekend we decided to go on a bit of a road trip. We ended up in the city that’s famous for the Loch Ness Monster, Inverness.

About a 5 minute walk away from the city centre is a very nice Bed and Breakfast called “Moyness Guesthouse”. We arrived to the guesthouse and found private parking on the property that could easily cater for about 6 cars. Upon arrival Richard the owner gave us a local map and highlighted where we were, recommendations for eating, drinking and shopping.

Inverness is a very scenic city with several tourist attractions ranging from churches to the castle.

The main attraction is the Loch itself where many years ago witnesses saw what is now known as the Loch Ness Monster. Sighting were logged at Urqhuart Castle. Urqhuart Castle I can say is an over priced attraction centre. I have no idea how Historic Scotland can charge £7 an adult and £4.20 for children. They lost a lot of custom that day as other parties where looking at the prices, looking at the castle and thinking “really?” and driving away.

Following the road down you end up at a very nice town called Fort Augustus where the canal meets the loch. The trip around the banks of the loch was a scenic one, very tranquil, and I would recommend it if you’ve never been within this vicinity.

While we were down we did manage to get a glimpse of Nessie:

If you’re every going up Inverness way I would thorough recommend Moyness Guesthouse bed and breakfast and visiting Nessie.
