Short cut

There are always times when you’re in the middle of doing something and then you realise that there maybe a quicker way to do it.  Windows users should be aware of the following:

Function Keys

  • F1 – Help
  • F2 – Select an item like a file,folder, or desktop shortcut hit F2 and you’ll get the option to rename that item.
  • F5 – Refresh a web page or a file listing on a window.
  • F10 – Open menu options.

Keyboard combinations

  • Ctrl+C – Copy content.
  • Ctrl+V – Paste content.
  • Ctrl+X – Cut content.
  • Ctrl+Z – Undo action.
  • Ctrl+Y – Redo action.
  • Ctrl+A – Select all items in a directory or objects on a webpage.
  • Alt+Tab – Switch between windows
  • Ctrl+Windows Key + Tab – Switch between windows in 3d.
  • Ctrl+Alt+Del – Launches options to restart windows,lock computer, shutdown,start task manager,logoff or switch user.
  • Alt+F4 – Close program.
  • Ctrl+F4 – Close window. y
  • Shift+Delete – Delete a file permanently.
  • Alt+F6 – Switch between program windows.
  • Alt+Enter – View properties. Select and file or folder use this shortcut and it displays the properties box.
  • Windows key + R – Run option to launch a program.
  • Windows key + E – Launch windows explorer.
  • Windows key + D – View desktop.
  • Windows key + M – Minimises all windows.
  • Windows key + X – Opens windows mobility centre.
  • Windows key + D – Shows desktop.
  • Windows key + F – Opens search window.
  • Windows key + L – Locks computer.
  • Windows key + U – Ease of Access Center.
